Real Wedding: Harriet & Oli’s Autumnal Wedding

In the heart of Rutland, where the rolling hills meet the serene waters of Rutland Water, love took centre stage in a celebration as vibrant and beautiful as the autumnal hues themselves. Harriet and Oli embarked on their journey to forever, weaving together the tapestry of their lives against the picturesque backdrop of their hometown.

The day began with a timeless charm, as Harriet, a vision in her gown from Vow Bridal, glided down the aisle of the Oakham School Chapel, her old school, to the sounds of the Processional from The Sound of Music, one of her favourite films. With every note of the organist William Fox and the harmonious voices of Cantus choir, the air was filled with the promise of everlasting love.

The reception moved onto Half Moon Farm, with its glorious views of Rutland Water (the perfect photo backdrop) and a marquee by Rutland Marquees, which was beautifully decorated and happily accommodated their 120 guests.

Harriet & Oli had stamped their personality onto every part of the day, but especially the beautiful blooms by Pickleberry Flowers.  White roses and thistles paid homage to Harriet's Yorkshire and Scottish heritage, while ivy grown from her bouquet at her brother’s wedding was a beautiful touch.

I was so proud to not only be a guest at the day, but also to provide all of the stationery and signage throughout. From the rustic wooden boards adorned with handwritten table plans to the place names etched onto wooden discs, every detail spoke of love and thoughtfulness. Even the homemade cakes reflected the couple's journey together, and included Harriet’s mum’s flapjacks, her godmother’s lemon drizzle and Oli’s niece’s coffee & walnut cake - Junior Bake Off, hello!! The table names were inspired, and reflected places that were important to the couple, including the place where they had their first date, their favourite beach and a Cornish cafe they frequently buy iced coffee and crab sandwiches from!

And what would a celebration be without music? Harriet, known for her enchanting melodies as a harpist, ensured that music wove its magic throughout the day. From the amazing organist, Will, to the lively tunes of The Aesthetic from DG Music, each note seemed to dance in harmony with the beating hearts of the guests.

As if to bless the union, nature herself joined in the festivities. A sudden downpour, though brief, gifted the couple with a breathtaking double rainbow— truly every cloud has a silver lining!

As the day drew to a close, hearts full and spirits soaring, it was evident that Harriet and Oli's love story was just beginning its most glorious chapter. Surrounded by family, friends, and the beauty of Rutland, they embarked on their journey hand in hand, their love a beacon of light in an ever-changing world.
